The village of Plato, Missouri, was designated by the most recent United States Census as the population center of the country.
On the day that residents from the area celebrated the honor, I set up a small backdrop and made portraits of the people
who now form the literal definition of "middle America." The gentleman with the amazing cowboy hat was kind enough to
hold my backdrop when the wind kicked up.
